Starting SoonBonanza Educational: Thrilling ContraptionsLego EngineeringAdd some thrill and drama to your LEGO® play in the Thrilling Contraptions after-school club. We will bring special LEGO TECHNIC™ parts--you know, the kind that move and have gears and wheels and motors--to build thrilling projects to help us explore the 6 Classical Machines and understand how they still form the basis of every tool and machine we use today. After mastering these special parts, we'll "Save the President" while exploring the inclined plane, "Reach Out" with grabber claws as we learn about levers, and more, until we complete the class having mastered our understanding of all the simple machines and how they work together in an exciting battery-powered race car project that will leave students able to answer “What does a transmission do?” In every class we will build a functioning model while we learn the STEM skills behind how they work, as we practice problem solving skills, teamwork skills, and how to become better communicators. Bricks 4 Kidz: Forces of NatureLego EngineeringFasten your seatbelts; we’re in for some wild weather! This unit is all about the amazing and powerful forces of nature, as students explore the when, where, how and why of all kinds of natural phenomenon. There is a lot of geography in this unit -- we’ll examine a map of the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where most tsunamis occur, view a diagram of the tectonic plates and learn how their movement creates earthquakes, define the area known as “Tornado Alley” in North America, and find out what hurricanes are called in different parts of the world. These lessons are designed to improve your child’s understanding of the forces of nature, while taking care not to alarm. Each model represents the motion of that particular weather or event, with a seat for a mini-figure to take in the action! Take cover because we’re about to take a trip through some wild weather! Kids will love to build moving models of a tornado, a tsunami, an earthquake and a cyclone.YE Spring 2026 -
Bricks 4 Kidz: InventionsLego EngineeringMost objects we use on a daily basis were invented by someone. Find out the origins of things like the hand mixer, windshield wipers and conveyor belts. During this unit, students will discuss the difference between an invention and a discovery, learn how inventions solve problems, and find out how inventors get their ideas patented. Each week, students are encouraged to think of what they could invent, or improvements they could make to an existing object to solve a problem!. So many things we use each day are someone’s invention. Introduce your student to the world of ideas, creativity, inventions and patents. We will construct different familiar objects each week such as a hand mixer, windshield wipers and a conveyor belt. Each model is motorized for maximum movement and fascination! Start creating!YE Spring 2026 -
